WAIVER OF TUITION FEE AND ISSUE OF FREE BUS PASS TO ALL STUDENTS STUDYING IN GOVERNMENT POLYTECHNIC COLLEGES

 In order to reduce the financial burden of the students and their parents, the facility of Tuition fee waiver of Rs. 2500 per year and free bus pass facilities are provided to all the students studying in all Government Polytechnic Colleges in Tamil Nadu.

POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME

From the year 2011-12 onwards, both Central and State Government are jointly implementing the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme with sole objective to uplift the socially backward students in Tamil Nadu. Under this scheme, all compulsory and non-refundable fees fixed by the Fee Fixation Committee, are paid for the students admitted under the Government /Management Quota in Self-Financing Institutions (including minority institutions).

This scheme is applicable for students belonging to SC, ST and SC converted into Christianity  categories but whose parental income does not exceed Rs 2.50 lakhs per annum.

Directorate of Technical Education is coordinating with Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department for implementing the Scheme from the year 2013-14.

DISTRIBUTION OF FREE OF COST LAPTOPS

As per G.O. (Ms) No.1, Special Programme implementation Department, dated 3.06.2011, from the academic year 2011-12 Government of Tamil Nadu have implemented the scheme of Free Distribution of Laptop Computers to the students studying in Government and Government Aided Engineering and Polytechnic Colleges to facilitate them in acquiring better computer skills and get more benefit out of available e-resources for their studies.

From the year 2013-14 onwards, the above scheme is applicable only for the  First year students of Government and Government Aided Polytechnic Colleges under the control of Directorate of Technical Education.

DISTRIBUTION OF FREE TEXT BOOKS FOR  FIRST YEAR DIPLOMA STUDENTS

In order to help and encourage the poor students hailing from weaker sections of the society to pursue their Technical Education without any hardships, free Text Books are being distributed from the year 2007-08 to the students studying in first year Diploma Courses in Government Polytechnic Colleges.

The list of books distributed to I Year Diploma students studying in  Government Polytechnic Colleges under Diploma ‘M’ scheme is as follows:
