7.5% Reservation scheme – Engineering
Overview
The 7.5% Reservation Scheme in Tamil Nadu was introduced to provide equal educational opportunities for students from Government Schools. Under this scheme, 7.5% of the total seats in Engineering courses are reserved for students studying from Class 6 to 12 in Government Schools.
Objectives
- To promote higher education among government school students.
- To increase enrollment of underprivileged students in engineering colleges.
- To bridge the gap between students from government and private schools.
Eligibility Criteria
- The student must have studied from Class 6 to Class 12 in a Tamil Nadu Government School.
- The student must have qualified in the respective Engineering Entrance Exam (if applicable).
- Applicable for all Government Engineering Colleges and self-financing institutions under government quota.
